Welcome to Ethical Equities

Welcome to Ethical Equities

  By: Claude on Sept. 26, 2018, 8:50 a.m.

Are you interested in reading carefully crafted research about listed companies?

How did you become interested in investing?

How long have you done it for?

Do you like the idea of ethical investing, or do you merely put up with the name of this site because you like analytical content?

There are no wrong answers and we love to hear from our readers!

Hi Claude

My name is Jo and I recently joined up at Ethical Equities. Here are my answers to your intro questions;

Are you interested in reading carefully crafted research about listed companies? Sure am!

How did you become interested in investing? Through my employment - I am an Assistant Accountant

How long have you done it for? On and off for about 10 years, more so recently now that I have the time to invest. My kids are now grown up and self reliant.

Do you like the idea of ethical investing, or do you merely put up with the name of this site because you like analytical content? Very interested in Ethical investing. However I must admit I joined this site because I was a subscriber at your platform at Hidden Gems at Motley Fool and appreciated your insightful research and comments. So I followed you here! (didn't mean to make that sound creepy!)

Hi Jo!

Thanks for posting, and sharing your background.

Are there any particular companies you have your eye on at the moment? (Whether or not you own those shares yourself).

Do you prefer own faster growing small caps (that might have more risk involved, if the growth doesn't continue), such as Audinate, or slower growing/turnaround companies on lower multiples, such as Energy Action or Paragon?

Disc: I hold all 3 companies mentioned above.

Hi Claude,

Thanks for building out your site and offering access to the content you are producing. The websites which yourself, Matt, Andrew, Owen and others are building are such valuable tools and great for those of us just finding our feet in the world of company ownership, while making decisions which match our (developing) thesis.

Are you interested in reading carefully crafted research about listed companies? I certainly am interested in digging deeper into the analysis process and finding out why a company may or may not be a buy for a market analyst or someone with your experience.

How did you become interested in investing? Business, management and ownership have been a lingering passion in the back of my mind since my teenage years, sadly I wasn't a reader back then and am only just catching up on so many missed books (Rich Dad, Poor Dad was the starting point from memory). I remember hearing my old man talk about his allocation of ASX: IAG from the NRMA membership he had maintained for many yearsm which fascinated me.

How long have you done it for? It took me far too long to bite the bullet and launch in with my first purchase (ASX: TLS when it was at quite a higher price, still not sold) in 2015, I think, and it has been a slow going journey since then. The past 6-8mths has been the most rapid point of my learning curve.

Do you like the idea of ethical investing, or do you merely put up with the name of this site because you like analytical content? I love the concept of ethical investing and being concious of the world and environment around us when giving money to a company. I don't know that this would totally stop me from making a buy decision, but it is something that I am very interested in and a value which I aim to develop into my analysis process. I really like the analytical content too.

Cheers for all you are doing and please keep it up.

Regards, Chris
